Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then located multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in association with the event," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
