Vince Zampella, who helped create the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.
Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.
The celebrated industry figure lost his life when his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.
"This represents an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts stated.
