Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager lamented known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
